Champions Trophy 2025 Warm-Up Matches Schedules – Everything You Need To Know

Champions Trophy 2025

In contrast to previous ICC events where all teams took part in warm-up games, this time not everyone will. Due to their recent ODI matches, powerhouses such as India, England, and Australia will not be playing in these matches. Afghanistan, South Africa, and Bangladesh will be taking the field for a series of intense matches.

  • February 14, Pakistan Shaheens and Afghanistan at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore
  • National Stadium, Karachi.
  •  February 16, New Zealand vs Afghanistan
  • February 17: Pakistan Shaheens Vs South Africa at National Stadium in Karachi
  • February 17: Pakistan Shaheens vs Bangladesh – ICC Cricket Academy in Dubai

The matches will be under the lights to allow teams to simulate the conditions that they will encounter in the main competition.

Pakistan Shaheens – A major test for emerging stars

The Pakistan Cricket Board has rolled out three squads, under the name “Pakistan Shaheens”, giving young and fringe players a chance to stake a claim for future senior team calls.

  • Afghanistan: The squad is led by Shadab, an all-rounder. It includes young talents such as Abdul Faseeh or Mohammad Abbas Afridi.
  • Mohammad Hurraira, Imam-ul-Haq, and Qasim Akram will be in the squad against South Africa.
  • Mohammad Haris is the leader of a group that includes Mohammad Wasim Jr.

These matches will give selectors invaluable insight ahead of future international fixtures.

Squad Breakdown: Players to Watch

In the warm-up games, there will be a mix of big names and up and coming talent. Take a look at each team’s key players.

  • Afghanistan: Rashid Khan Mohammad Nabi and Fazalhaq Faooqi are crucial for both their bowling and leadership roles.
  • Bangladesh: Mushfiqur and Mahmudullah, both experienced players, will provide stability to the middle order while Mustafizur will lead the bowling attack.
  • South Africa: Temba Bavuma will lead the Proteas, alongside David Miller and Kagiso Rahbada.
  • New Zealand: Kane Williamson’s return is a huge boost. Rachin Ravindra and Mitchell Santner, all-rounders, will also be supporting him.
